How Lil This Lil That Porch Signs Came About...

It all started in 2018 when I lost my father to brain Cancer. All he wanted was to retire after 50 years with the same company and open and antique shop and travel around the country meeting new people and finding new treasures. Because as he tells it , " they put out different items in different locations so somtimes you have to hunt for them." His passion was Super Hero Character Drinking Glasses . I know he had to have over 2000 different ones batman, superman, Abner, looney tunes and so on . That was his passion which after he passed became mine.
As a child he taught me how to build things with wood and fix things so that they lasted a long time. He would always say that there was more life in things and we were always fixing something gardening or treasure hunting. He didn't like to throw out anything that could be fixed or rebuilt. The other quality he possessed and always did was Penny pinch and save save save for that long awaited retirement. So fixing things because it was cheaper became our past time . I did it to spend time with a father I rarely saw bc of his busy work schedule and my independent nature . I wanted to learn and spend time with him as much as I could when our schedules allowed for it. I can still hear him telling me the key is to always measure twice.
Long story short in 2018 he passed from an uncurable
form of brain cancer called Glioblastoma Multiform and during his hospice time all he wanted to barely watch when he was lucid was Magnolia Farms with The Gains tv program on HSN which is about a builder and designer from Waco that build repurpose and decorate homes for different family's. I thought nothing of it at the time but after he passed a few years later I had a strange dream. By that time I had moved to Magnolia Texas and lost my medical job during Covid and was struggling to make ends meet when I had a strange dream of me and my dad sitting on the porch of my home in Magnolia. He told me to open a Rustic decor company and call it Lil This For Lil That . At that time I was making wooden porch signs for neighbors and family members to make ends meet bc like my dad I was cheap and the store was charging exuberant prices for low quality signs but yet everyone had them on their porches. So I started making them how I would want them to be made . Quality but frugal and that would last until I chose to throw it away not bc of it falling apart or failing. So now you know how it all began . .... from a simple father's dream and the love for building quality items that would last for a amazing price.
Lil This Lil That Glass is the beginning of an etsy shop if yall would like to check out the glasses I spoke of. I hate that I am selling them but times are rough and a store , a home, and aging mother are alot to handle alone now a day's.
It'll get there to how he would like it one day. Thanks for all the love and support .
